Update: Spring RA
MSTA welcomed 283 delegates from across the state to take part in the Association's 2008 Spring Representative Assembly (RA) held Saturday in College Park. The focus of the spring meeting, held every two years, was to approve the budget and discuss and debate issues on the agenda.
2008 Spring RA Action:
MSTA President Clara Floyd presided over the assembly. It's always a joy to come together as an Association and find our way to consensus, she said. I was pleased to see so many delegates interested and involved in the business of MSTA share their opinions and expectations.

Kids First Act becomes law
Among the hundreds of bills Governor O'Malley signed into law today, the Kids First Act stands out. Thanks to Montgomery Delegate Heather Mizeur, who spearheaded the legislation, and lobbying by MSTA and other groups, more Maryland children will have access to the health insurance coverage they deserve. As many as 90,000 additional Maryland children could be covered with the help of the targeted outreach to parents or guardians. Learn more >>
MSTA Executive Director David Helfman (standing, second from right) was among the supporters present at yesterday's signing of the Kids First Act. With the new legislation, Maryland hopes to provide health insurance coverage to most of Maryland's 137,000 children who currently lack coverage.
